
Almaty is situated in the center of the Eurasian Continent on the southeast of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Almaty is a cosmopolitan city that boasts of some of the best restaurants, museums and hotels in Central Asia. Russian and Kazakh are the two major language spoken in Almaty although many people speak English. This city is located in the shadow of the west Tian Shan Mountains. A visit to Almaty provides an excellent opportunity for skiing. Almaty’s main ski resort has a quaint alpine style hotel for overnights. The Central state Museum offer an excellent overview of Kazakhstan’s history and includes numerous exhibit halls which provide an overview of the country’s chief archeological treasures and ancient traditions. Visitors to the city should also not miss Panfilov Park and the fabulous Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

There are several picturesque lakes in the mountains of Zailiskiy
Alatau. One of them is Bolshoe Almatinskoe. It is especially beautiful in the
morning , when blue surface mirrors the sky and surrounding mountains.
The excursion to Big Almaty Lake is interesting any time of the year. Even in
winter, when its surface covered with ice and snow, it captivates with its
spaciousness and mystery.

You can feel glaciers
breath in the residential areas on the south while being at the 1500-1700 meter height over the sea level in Medeu and
Kamenskiy Plato tracts.
Almaty is large political , cultural, financial,
scientific and industrial megalopolis of Kazakhstan. The climate of Almaty is
sharply continental with significant temperature fluctuations during the year
and the day.
