Spread on both banks of the Irtysh  river, Semey is one of the largest and most beautiful cities in the country.

Words can not convey all the beauty of the city, where the past and present, intricately intertwined and create its unique shape. Broad avenues and modern quiet ancient streets, high-rise buildings, neat houses, old architecture monuments, elegant buildings in suburban suburbs, numerous parks and gardens, the abundance and variety of transport, music night cafes, evening church bells chime and muezzins singing in the morning - it is a portrait of contemporary Semey.

Semey undoubtedly belongs to the cities, on the face of which bears the stamp of history. The word "Semey", according to some scholars, is translated from the ancient "spiritual place".

The current appearance of the city is characterized by a number of interesting architectural structures. The first is a unique ensemble of the central square named after Abai. Can not say about the Youth Palace , the House of Trade Unions , the Palace of Marriages , buildings , state archives , river and air terminals , hotels " Binar " , "The Tourist" and "Irtysh" , which offer a wonderful view of the downtown area and the left bank .
